We're very excited to be harvesting carrots for the first time this week. For us, they are another one of those vegetables which are almost unrecognisable to what you can buy in the supermarkets. Real carrots have so much flavour, we really hope you enjoy them.
This year we did quite a lot of experimental carrot sowings. Some have worked great, like this row down the middle of the brussels sprouts and celery bed and others not so well, like the sugarsnap pea bed where they just didn't get enough light to bulk up.
We'll just be having carrots for the next 2-3 weeks then the next round will be in the winter. We'll try and include the tops where we can - they can used a bit like parsley.

Another new veg for us this week is our barlotti beans picked demi-sec; which means they've started to mature but they're not fully dry yet. So we'd recommend cooking them like any other storage bean, however, they don't need pre-soaking. So we just podded the beans, cooked them in salted water until tender (took about 30mins for us) and then threw them in a tomato based sauce.

You can now add 1.5kg portions of all of our tomatoes to your box
